At the risk of either torturing or boring those of you who don’t live in the area, I wanted to highlight a local spot that has quickly become a favorite of ours, namely Cafe Happy in Kirkland, Washington. Cafe Happy is owned and run by a family who bring their Taiwanese heritage to the creation of their extensive menu. Everything is created by hand and is full of love and pride.
The entire menu is vegetarian, with some dishes containing egg and/or cow-based cheese, but the majority of things are already vegan, and just about everything else can be “veganized.”
Yesterday, Queenie and I got No. 18, the Tofu in Ginger sauce. It’s super fresh and tasty and packs a serious wallop of ginger heat!
No visit to Cafe Happy would be complete without a serving (or two or…) of steamed buns. They offer a variety of bun flavors, but we are completely addicted to the soy meat buns. The filling is delicious, and the consistency is perfect. Aaaahh. Heaven.
And for dessert, boba tea. I got the Jasmine while Queenie opted for the Vanilla White made with soymilk. Yum, yum, yum.
